ARLINGTON -- David R. Baker, 76, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, in Quitman.
Funeral: 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: At a later date in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
David was born in Milbank, S.D., to Raymond Virgil Baker and Ida Sorteberg Baker. He grew up in Sioux Falls and was a resident of Arlington for the past 40 years. David earned an engineering degree, a BBA in management and an MBA in business administration. He worked for Bell Helicopter and retired after 38 years as project engineer. David was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling all over the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ida; brothers, Kenneth Baker and Butch Baker; brothers-in-law, Clayton Buckley and Robert Farquhar; former wife of 37 years and mother of his children, Glenda Baker Herring; and grandson, Houston T. Goode.
Survivors: Children, Ricky Baker (Darlene), Theresa Thomas (Mike), Mark Baker (Julia), Tamara Goode (John) and Michelle Rose (Ken); sisters, Eunice Buckley, Dorothy Farquhar, Joyce Munger (Lawrence), Barbara Galland (Dick); brother, Les Baker (June); sisters-in-law, Marilyn Baker (Kenneth) and Violet Baker (Butch); grandchildren, Wesley Baker, Aaron Thomas, Brandon Baker, Mason Goode, Samantha Rose and Preston Baker.
