David Norwood Snider

David Norwood Snider passed away peacefully on April 7, 2023. He was born April 29, 1939, to Frances (nee Hiett) and Gerald Snider – a family that was one of the earliest to call Arlington its home. He attended Southside Elementary, Ousley Middle School and was a member of the Arlington High School class of 1957, where he was the proud recipient of the Vandergriff Award for outstanding leadership on the field. A natural born athlete, David lettered in 4 sports at AHS and went on to earn a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa. He matriculated from what is now UTA with a degree in Business Administration and travelled to NYC to hone his trade as a stockbroker. A forward thinker, David opened one of the first discount brokerage houses in the Metroplex.

An outdoor enthusiast, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and was a proud Sierra Club member. Some say the mold was broken when David was born. He lived his life on his own terms, quietly doing for others and expecting nothing in return.

David is preceded in death by his sister Ann Snider McLellan, his brother Gerald Thomas “Tommy” Snider, and his second wife Paula Sue “Susie.” He is survived by Margaret Settle (Charles), Susan Snider, and Ches Snider (Jenn) from his first wife Vesta; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
