David Irving Ramsey

David Irving Ramsey, 78, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 in Arlington, Texas.

Memorial Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 20, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.

David was born on December 22, 1944 in Martinsville, Virginia to Irving Washington Ramsey and Edna Roberts Ramsey. He graduated from Martinsville High School in 1963 and received his bachelors degree from UVA in 1967. David married Kathryn Taylor on July 20, 1968. He graduated from UVA with an MBA in 1970.

David worked at radio stations in Martinsville and Charlottesville, Virginia. He began his career at First National Bank Martinsville in the summer of 1970 in the Trust Department; the same bank where his father worked. He moved to Wichita Falls in 1978 to begin work at First Wichita National Bank, eventually rising to the position of Executive Vice President and head of the Trust Department. David retired from formal banking in 1995 and started Chestnut Creek Management Company.

He volunteered on several charitable boards, including WFMAC, United Way and the Priddy Foundation. David was a lifelong Christian and heavily involved in FBCWF, first running the sound board for Sunday services for many years, serving as Sunday School teacher and later in the Prayer Partners ministry.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn Taylor Ramsey in 2014; and sister, Jean Ramsey Johnson in 1987.

Survivors: Daughter, Shannon Ramsey Hill, son in law Stuart Hill, and three grandchildren, Gregory, Meredith and Mason.
