David’s remarkable life was one filled with love, devotion, and unwavering commitment to his family. As a retired Navy Sr. Chief, he dedicated himself to serving and protecting his beloved country. His patriotism was matched only by his deep love and affection for his family.

Throughout his 56 years of marriage, David and his devoted spouse, Roselen Mathews, celebrated countless cherished moments together. Their unending commitment and unconditional love served as an inspiring example for all who knew them. The bond they shared provided a strong foundation for their enduring marriage, which was filled with happiness, laughter, and abundant joy. David cherished his role as a loving husband and stood as a pillar of strength for Roselen.

David was also a devoted father, playing an instrumental role in raising a wonderful family. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, who have been profoundly impacted by his guidance and unconditional love. In addition to his loving spouse, Roselen Mathews, David is survived by his children, David E. Mathews II, Kenneth E. Mathews, Heidi M. Mathews and beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their presence in his life brought immeasurable joy, and he relished in every moment spent with them. His legacy will continue to live on through his grandchildren, who will remember him for his wisdom, kindness, and love.
