Darrell was born at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Worth Texas on December 18, 1953 to parents Billy and Jackie Powell.
He would be their second born, however the first and only boy. Between him and his sisters, they shared a remarkable strong bond. Some of the best memories from playing baseball or football in the middle of the street, to Darrell getting everyone in trouble, and Vicki returning the trouble. After Graduating from Arlington Heights High School, Darrell joined our Nation's Air Force in 1972 at the age of 18. Then sometime after returning from Thailand during the Vietnam War, Darrell and then wife welcomed their first-born Allison in 1985, then in 1986 their son Shawn.
He had a kind heart and was always there to lend a helping hand when he could. Having an incredible passion and talent for woodworking, he loved fishing, working with his hands, and the Texas Longhorns. The thing he loved the most were his two grandsons and the time he spent with them.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Rachel Powell; Daughter Allison Powell; Son and Daughter-In-Law, Shawn and Kalyn Powell; Two grandsons, David and Logan Powell; Sisters, Glenda Craig and Becky Powell; One aunt and one uncle; as well as nieces and nephews, and many cousins.
