Daphna Priscilla Ritchey passed away December 31, 2020. She was 94 and the last surviving
member of her 9 siblings.
Daphna was born October 24, 1926 to Bertha Burkett and Burton Hubert Pritchard near
Wingate, Texas. After graduating from Texas Women's University with a degree in Home
Economics, she taught school. Later, she went to work for Houston Natural Gas, conducting
cooking demonstrations among other things. While in Victoria, Texas, she met Andrew Ritchey,
a career officer in the Air Force. They married in February of 1955. As military families do,
Andy, Daphna and their 2 children moved and traveled extensively in the US, including a 3 year
stay in Oslo, Norway. After Andy retired from the Air Force, the family settled in Arlington,
Texas.
Daphna had a number of interests and was good at many things. Having grown up on a farm
with a large family, she learned to cook at an early age and continued to enjoy cooking for the
remainder of her life. She was an excellent cook, as her friends and family knew well. Daphna
was involved in gardening and the neighborhood garden club, 2 bridge groups and New World
United Methodist Church, which she and Andy helped to establish. She very much enjoyed
antiquing and ran a small antique business.
Daphna loved and was loved by her family and friends!

She was preceded in death by husband Andrew Ritchey and brothers Doyle, B.H., Elzo, John, Truett, Bruce Pritchard and her sister Elizabeth Atchley.
