Daniel Roland Floberg

ARLINGTON – Daniel “Dan” Roland Floberg, 74, passed away Sunday, June 25, 2017, after a courageous and lengthy battle against various illnesses. He spent his final days with his daughters by his side, and they were witness to his incredible strength. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, friends may make a memorial donation to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association in his name, if they so wish. Dan was born January 25, 1943 to Leslie and Roland Floberg in Evanston, IL. He attended Badger High School in Lake Geneva, WI, Class of 1961, where he was quite the jock, playing three sports – basketball, baseball, and golf. Spider was his name and sports was his game. He was recently honored by being inducted into the Badger's Athletic Hall of Fame. He then went to Michigan State University on a full scholarship for basketball, where he played from 1961-64, graduating with a Business Degree. He finished his professional career as a Regional Sales Manager for Toro. To say Dan enjoyed playing golf is an understatement, and he was a member of Ridglea Country Club for the past 24 years. He enjoyed being with his many friends and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend and will be greatly missed. The only saving grace is that he is forever out of pain and he has met up with all those friends and family that passed before him. His assurance of heaven is a comfort to his family in their loss. Dan left specific instructions as to how his death was to be handled. He wanted to be cremated and his ashes spread at a favorite childhood spot, along with the ashes of his beloved dog Charlie. But he made sure to note, “please make damn sure I'm dead!” Though he wanted no formal service or remembrance, his memory is forever imprinted on the lives of his friends and family who loved him dearly and unconditionally. He is survived by his two daughters and their spouses, Melissa Wilson and husband Geff of Mansfield, TX, and Christine Bennett and husband Jeff of Allen, TX, as well as grandchildren Maegan and Madison Wilson, Clayton, Natalie and Brooke Bennett. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Lindy and Ronnie Norris of Clinton, TN, He is preceded in death by his parents Roland and Leslie Floberg, and his brother, Tom Floberg.
