Cooper Blount

December 19, 1934 — May 10, 2024

Cooper Blount, 89, passed away on May 10, 2024, in Arlington, TX.

Cooper Blount was born on December 19, 1934 in Olney, TX to Cooper Blount, Sr. and Alma Ware Blount.

Cooper graduated from Olney High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University. He started out his career as a Petroleum Engineer and went on to work for Continental Emsco and Smith-Thompson. Later, Cooper was self-employed. He owned Process and Power Piping, AGI, and Filtec.

Cooper married Jane Morgan Blount, of Oklahoma City, OK, in 1959. The couple had 2 children, Beth Kinman, of Arlington, and Christopher Blount, of Tulsa. The couple raised their family in Tulsa and were active at First United Methodist Church (FUMC) of Tulsa for many years.

Cooper was known for his stories and his humor. He loved to travel and read in his spare time and stayed curious throughout his life. When his children were teens, one of his favorite things to do was take them and their friends, including the FUMC youth, water skiing behind his boat. He taught many to water ski, despite not skiing himself!

Cooper is survived by Jane, their two children: Beth Blount Kinman (Mark) of Arlington, TX and Christopher Blount of Tulsa, OK, their grandchildren: David Kinman of Dallas, TX and Stephanie Kinman of Arlington, TX

Cooper is preceded in death by his father, Cooper Blount, Sr., and his mother, Alma Ware Blount.

The graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 16th, at 2:00 PM at Graceland Cemetery, Jermyn, TX.

Memorial donations can be made in Cooper’s name to the Salvation Army.
