Constantin Corduneanu, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018, at Medical City Arlington. He was born July 26, 1928 in the Romanian village Potangeni to Aglaea and Costache Corduneanu.
He is survived by his brother Adrian Corduneanu, nieces Mihaela Ungureanu and Cristina Corduneanu Meckefeld and nephews Radu Corduneau and Eugen Corduneanu.
He attended the National Military College in Predeal, same school attended by His Majesty King Michael of Romania.
In 1951 he gradutes the University of Iasi. Four years later he gets his PHD degree in Mathematics.
Dr. Corduneanu prepared over 4,000 Romanian and 3,000 American Students. He nurtured over 20 PHD students.
Academia Română l-a ales membru corespondent în anul 1974, calitate care i-a fost retrasă ca urmare a plecării din ţară în anul 1978. A fost repus în drepturi în 1990, iar în anul 2015 a fost ales membru titular.
He becomes a member of the Romanian Academy in 1974. His membership was revoked a few year later ( due to the comunist era) only to be reinstated in 1990.
A publicat, în România şi în străinătate, aproximativ 200 de cărţi şi articole ştiinţifice în care a abordat variate domenii de cercetare: teoria globală a sistemelor diferenţiale, teoria admisibilităţii şi aplicaţii la sisteme diferenţiale, integrale sau cu operatori Volterra generali (cauzali), teoria stabilităţii sistemelor, cu precădere prin metoda comparaţiei, teoria mişcărilor oscilante şi a undelor, în special cazul aproape periodic.
He published more than 200 books and scientific articles.
Family friends and others who's lives Constantin touched are invited to St Mary's Orthodox Church in Colleyville, Saturday, January 5th, 4.00 pm.
