Clara Jean Everly, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, was welcomed into her eternal heavenly home on November 11, 2024, at the age of 83. She was born to Inez and Wesley C. Eggleston on July 27, 1941, in Denton, Texas, where she developed her lifelong love for family, art, and faith.
Clara dedicated herself to her family as a loving and attentive stay-at-home mother, always active in the lives of her children and their friends. Her home was a warm gathering place, filled with laughter, delicious food, and thoughtful touches. Known for her meticulous nature, Clara had an eye for perfection, whether she was wrapping flawless Christmas presents, keeping her home impeccably clean, or creating beautiful works of art. A talented painter and avid crafter, she excelled in sewing, costume design, and all things creative.
With a strong faith, Clara was deeply involved with Fielder Road Baptist Church, where she and her late husband, Jim, cherished their church family. She served as the costume director for the annual Christmas play, designing each piece with care, and found great joy singing in the choir and participating in their Sunday school group. Friday mornings were reserved for her weekly hair appointment, and each Friday night, she and James enjoyed a cherished date night—an enduring tradition that spoke to their devoted partnership.
Family was at the center of Clara's life. Every summer, she looked forward to family vacations, savoring the scenery, history, and memories created together. Disney World held a special place in her heart, as did her love for capturing moments in countless photos. Christmas was Clara’s favorite season, and she transformed her home into a winter wonderland, complete with multiple Christmas trees, holiday décor, and her famous banana pudding. For Clara, Christmas was a joyful three-day celebration of family and faith.
A fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers, Clara enjoyed attending games and cheering for her teams. She also had a sweet tooth and especially loved ice cream. A dedicated homemaker with a compassionate heart, Clara looked after her own parents in their later years and continually extended her kindness and generosity to others, always making time to create baby blankets for family, friends, and neighbors alike.
Professionally, Clara worked as an executive assistant at Johnson & Johnson, where she used her gifts of organization and care to support her colleagues. Her strong opinions and loving guidance were a hallmark of her character, and she never hesitated to share her thoughts, teaching those around her with wisdom and warmth.
Clara is survived by her son, Jeffrey Alan Everly and wife Robin; her daughter, Jennifer Stitz; her brothers, Wesley H. Eggleston and wife Ann, and Elvin Eggleston and wife Erin. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, David Everly and wife Mariam, Jacob Everly, and Bailey Stitz, along with her precious great-grandson, Henry Everly.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Gateway United Baptist Church, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park.
Clara’s legacy of love, faith, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
We are rejoicing that she is now with Jesus and has been reunited with the love of her life, Jim.
