Cheryl Marie Smallwood Downing, 65, met her savior in paradise on Friday, March 12, 2021 in Arlington. Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the funeral home. Cheryl was born in Garland, Texas on May 25, 1955 to Curtis Smallwood and Nelda Davis Peoples. She was a valued employee of Dezine News, Inc. for 20 years, and co-owned All Occasion Photography for 20 years. Cheryl devoted all of her spare time to loving her children, grandchildren and any passers-by with a listening ear, a supportive presence, or thoughtfully selected gifts. Her family is her legacy and she loved them with her whole heart. She was preceded in death by her son, Larry Michael Lon Smith; daughter, Shelly Dawn Shirley; mother, Nelda Peoples; and father, Curtis Smallwood. Survivors: Husband, Andy Downing; daughter, Leslie Caram; daughter, Brandy Steger and husband, George; son, Patton Shirley; daughter, Jennifer Covington and husband, Adam; son, Tyler Downing and wife, Megan; sister, Patti Cummings; brother, Larry Smallwood and wife, Linda; brother, Gary Smallwood and wife, Della; sister, Tammy Parker and husband, Matt; sister, Diane Cronk; grandaddy, Jim Peoples; bonus mom, Darlene Smallwood; grandchildren: Chelsea and husband, Josh, Kayla and Blake; Michael, Dakota, Payton and Maddie; Chloe, Jagger, Mason and Bella; Emory and Everett; Claire and Audrey; great grandchildren: Nathan, Lilly and Jackson; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
