MANSFIELD -- Charles William Hayes, 83, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Dallas.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 1400 S. Cooper St., Arlington, with Dr. James Ballard officiating. Interment: 1 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.
Charles was born Feb. 23, 1930, to Nallie Cosby Hayes and Ellie Leona Kemp Hayes in Lamkin, where he was raised. Charles graduated from Lamkin High School as valedictorian of the Class of 1947. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. A longtime Arlington resident, Charles was a building contractor in Arlington for many years. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. He loved woodworking and reading.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Sanders.
Survivors: Beloved wife of 62 years, Patricia Harkins Hayes; daughters, Suzanne Hayes Brimer and husband, John, of Burleson and Kayla Hayes Jones and husband, Vernon, of Springtown; sister, Georgia Faye Kemp; grandchildren, Carl Brimer, Amber Johnson and Lindsay Jones; and great-grandchildren, Carson, Kacey, Aubrey and Allie.
