ARLINGTON -- Charles Franklin Rice Jr., 90, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, in Arlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, 6102 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, Minister Ryan Inlow officiating. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Franklin was born May 25, 1922, in Dallas, to Ethel and Charles Sr. He was raised in Cockrell Hill and had been an Arlington resident for the past 45 years.
Franklin had the heart of a servant and showed his family how to love with his actions. He enjoyed giving his time at Hearts and Hands, Meals on Wheels, and spent many hours at visitations at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, where he was a member.
He was a resident of Arlington Villa for the past two years, and had many friends there.
Franklin was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Lou Rice; and six sisters.
Survivors: Loving wife of 45 years, Charlene; son, Kent; daughters, Penny and Harry Williams, Pamela and Ken Moon and Shelley and Richard Parker; grandchildren, Kay, John, Allen, Audrey, Nathan and Caullen; great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kathryn, Evan, Reid and Dylan; and numerous other family members and friends.
