In Loving Memory of Cecil Richard “Rick” Baxter

Hurst, Texas – Cecil Richard Baxter, also known affectionately as “Rick,” was born on November 29, 1946, in Wheeler, Texas. It is with heavy hearts that we announce his passing on January 17, 2024, at his home in Hurst, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones.
Rick had a deep love for his family and cherished his role as a husband to his beloved wife, Tammy Brown, and a father to Brandon Brown, Jason Baxter, and Justin Brown. He was their pillar of strength, always providing unwavering support and guidance.
Rick dedicated his life to his career as an engineer in the telecommunications industry. He worked tirelessly for companies such as Southwestern Bell and AT&T, leaving an indelible mark with his expertise and commitment to his work. His contributions to the field of telecommunications will be remembered by his colleagues and friends.
Outside of work, Rick had a genuine passion for football, eagerly following his favorite teams. He loved gathering with friends and family, sharing laughter and good food. His grandkids held a special place in his heart, and he treasured the time he spent with them.
One of Rick’s favorite pastimes was enjoying family vacations, particularly at his timeshare in Corpus Christi. He embraced every opportunity to go fishing, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
Rick served his country loyally, joining the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Enlisting on November 16, 1968, he served with distinction, ultimately achieving the rank of SW2. His tour of duties during this challenging time showcased his bravery and dedication to his fellow servicemen.
A celebration of Rick’s life will be held February 5th where family, friends, and colleagues will gather to honor his memory. In remembrance of his service to our country, military honors will be rendered. Details regarding the services will be communicated in due course.
Rick will forever live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved him. His legacy as a caring husband, devoted father, respected engineer, and selfless friend will remain an inspiration to us all. May Rick’s soul find eternal peace, and may his spirit continue to guide and protect those he left behind.
