Cathy Lee Mathewson

November 28, 1952 — November 1, 2022

Cathy Lee Mathewson, 69, beloved wife and sister, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 in Hurst, Texas.

Cathy was born on November 28, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee to Joseph Hildren Staten and Mattie Ruth Vance Staten. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse.

Cathy was a strong believer in Christ and had a strong faith. She answered the call for God’s plan in her life. She was always putting the needs of others above herself. Cathy did not want to burden others with her pain. If she had a strong conviction about something, she would stand firm and not back down.

Cathy was a very hospitable and innovative person. She loved to travel to Branson, Missouri and enjoyed playing Farkle and games. She was great at picking out greeting cards and was known for sending the best cards. Cathy loved animals.

She taught her husband, Larry, to love and showed him grace during her lifetime. She stood by her husband until the very end. Cathy’s family accepted Larry with open arms and they were married on June 28, 1986. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Jane Hilda Staten.

Survivors: Husband, Larry Arden Mathewson; sisters, Brenda Sue Staten Bailey, and Martha Kay Vaughn and husband, Dave.
