Carolyn Ruth Scoggins

ARLINGTON -- Carolyn Ruth Sinnott Scoggins, 79, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Aug. 12, 2013. Celebration of life: Carolyn Scoggins' life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish, 5819 W. Pleasant Ridge Road, Arlington, with the Rev. Monsignor Joseph Schumacher as celebrant. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer's research through http://act.alz.org/goto/carolyn_scoggins Carolyn was born in Hardwick, Vt., on Nov. 7, 1933, to William and Ruth Sinnott. She was a 1950 graduate of Adamson High School in Dallas. Carolyn married Doug Scoggins on June 23, 1957, in Elberton, Ga. Carolyn's deep love of her husband and children was reflected in her everyday home-cooked meals and her ability to transform unassuming fabric and thread into stylish and fashionable clothes for her family. Carolyn was an active and decorated leader in both Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts for over 20 years. As a charter member of St. Matthews, Carolyn was active in the Parish Council. Survivors: Her husband, William Douglas Scoggins; sister, Judy Rampey; children, Philip, Stephen, Keith, Bruce, Calleen and Craig; 27 grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
