Carolyn June Downey

Carolyn June Downey, 70 years of age, passed away Monday March 6, 2023.

A visitation for Carolyn will be held Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Arlington, Texas 76013. The committal service will occur Friday, March 24, 2023 at 11:00am at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.

Carolyn was born July 9, 1952, in Sulphur Springs, Texas to Robert and Inez Harris. Carolyn attended school at Thomas Edison and Boude Storey. Carolyn married her husband of forty-six years, Robert Mike Downey in January of 1969. Mike then enlisted in the US Army and they relocated to Washington. They then moved back to the DFW area where they resided thereafter. Mike and Carolyn took great pride in their family and Carolyn loved being a mother to her two children then grandmother to her eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Carolyn also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, puzzles, reading the Bible, and playing games with her Grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother Inez Viola Harris, her father Robert A. Harris, and her husband Robert Mike Downey.

Carolyn is survived by her brother Larry Harris of Kaufman, Tx, brother Bob Harris of Haslet, Tx, sister Betty Harris of Commerce, Tx, daughter Tawana Anderson and her husband Neil of Rhode Island, son Rodney Downey and his wife Jennifer of Fort Worth, Tx, grandchildren: Carlin, Hailie, Chasdity, Blaine, Kindal, Jaxon, Kailea, Ah’gust, and great granddaughter Lillian Grace.
