Carol Virginia Lingard

May 7, 1941 — July 6, 2018

Carol Virginia Lingard passed away on July 6, 2018 from complications following heart by-pass surgery. A Memorial Service will be held Friday July 13 at the First Baptist Church in Arlington at 2 pm with a reception following at Shady Valley Country Club. Carol was born to Emma and Jesse Turner in Dallas, Texas on May 7, 1941. She spent her childhood in Longview, Texas where she began her love affair with shopping in Riff's and her father's jewelry store. It was in that same jewelry store where she met the love of her life, Sam Gilbert Lingard. Carol and Sam married and moved to Arlington, Texas where Sam went to work for Ted Arendale Ford. Sam soon began his own dealership, Sam Lingard Ford. Carol loved travelling with Sam on the many Ford trips he won to exotic destinations around the world. On November 2, 1966, the joy of their lives, Scott Turner Lingard, was born. Carol was a devoted and loving mother who never missed a football or baseball game of Scott's throughout the years. The Lingard house became a second home to Scott's friends, and Carol their second mother. As the mother of a boy, Carol knew just what to do when she was blessed with two precious grandsons, Jake Turner Lingard and Luke Burnette Lingard. She was involved in their sporting events, National Honor Society functions, other school programs and weekend outings to Joe T's. Carol became active in the Arlington community joining Junior Women's Club, Regency and Bilando dance clubs, PALS and Arlington Civic League. Carol's gift to all was her generosity. She had a unique way of making others feel valued and loved, and wherever she went came away with new friends. She was known for the wonderful dinner parties held in her home, her famous pimento cheese, as well as her hot crackers. She shared her faith in the thousands of Daily Bread Devotionals she faithfully gave to people over the years. She loved shopping…for everything and everyone! Carol never met a cookie she didn't like! Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam, her parents, brother Richard Turner, aunt Audrey Turner and uncle Jack Edward Graff. She is survived by her son, Scott, his fiancé Neely Fortinberry and her daughter Addison Fortinberry, grandsons Jake and Luke Lingard, cousins Kathi and Mike Holbert, Gary and Ann Graff and Kristi and Ted Ward, and aunt Dorothy Jean Graff. Death is such a paradox of sorrow and joy. Carol will always be remembered with great love...as the reality of her new life brings comfort and peace to us all. Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
