Carol Ann Thompson, 86, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, to be with her Lord and join her beloved husband, Donald.
Carol was born on March 8, 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Lucinda "Pete" and Frank Bissett. In 1956, her family moved to Arlington, Texas, where she graduated from Arlington High School. She attended the University of Texas for two years before transferring to Arlington State College (now UTA) for a semester. It was during this time that she met and began dating her high school classmate, Donald Thompson. They married in 1959, and in 1961, their son was born in Arlington. While Donald launched Aztec Trailers and became self-employed, the family remained in Arlington. In 1997, they moved to Granbury for several years before returning to Arlington, where Donald passed away.
Carol was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Arlington, where she was involved in the Adult Bible Class and served on the church's Historical Committee. She was also a longtime member of the Woman's Club and an active participant in the Encore Club. Carol and Donald traveled extensively throughout their marriage, and after his passing, she continued to travel with her high school friends, as well as her brother and his wife. In earlier years, Carol and Donald enjoyed snow skiing and even had a condo in Colorado. She deeply valued her friendships and, in recent years, had a special bond with her neighbors.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her parents.
She is survived by her son, Don Thompson; grandson, Justin Thompson and wife Rebecca; great-granddaughter, Lorelei; granddaughter, Tiffany Gabriel and husband Jared Gabriel; great-grandson, Remy Gabriel; her brother and his wife, Jim and Marsha Bissett; brother-in-law Nathan and his wife, Sherry Thompson; sister-in-law Lucy Thompson; as well as several nieces, nephews, their children, and many dear friends.
