Carol S. Higgins

Carol Schumann Higgins, age 86, passed away peacefully into the arms of our loving Lord, February 9, 2023.

She was born February 23, 1936 in San Antonio, Texas and raised in the Hill Country until she was accepted at Texas Christian University in 1949. She studied to become a Registered Nurse, ultimately becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist receiving many accolades and awards during her career.

Carol retired when she married the love of her life, John D. Higgins, Jr., in 1982 and they subsequently traveled the world, making numerous lifelong friends along the way. Carol was an accomplished artist in both oil paint and watercolor. She loved her pets immeasurably and frequently contributed to the ASPCA.

Carol’s husband, John D. Higgins, Jr., preceded her in death in 2017. She is survived by two step daughters, Julia Higgins and Joy LaForce, step granddaughter Lisa Clark and her husband Wade and step great grandson, Ethan.
