Carol Jean Christie peacefully passed away on January 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, in her home in Arlington, Texas.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Arlington, Texas with lunch to follow.
Carol was born in Douglaston, N.Y. on January 28, 1931 to Thomas and Gertrude Kenny. She married John H. Christie on December 30, 1950. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.
Carol was intelligent, resourceful, creative, accomplished seamstress, fond of traveling and exploring with her family. Being supportive of John as he served in the Korean War and earned his undergraduate degree. Carol then attended Rutgers University and graduated with a degree in Education, while being a wife and mother. Eventually she obtained a Texas Teachers Certificate and taught part time in the Arlington Independent School District.
Carol had a profound interest in current affairs, history, geology, classical music, and visual arts. She was deeply religious, giving, loving, and inspirational to all who knew her. To Carol her family always came first and she made many sacrifices on their behalf. She was a devoted wife, mother, and sweet and gentle grandmother.
Carol's family thanks the staff of New Hope Hospice, Mansfield Methodist Hospital, and Ennis Regional Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided.
Carol was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Christie, parents Thomas and Gertrude Kenny, brother, Thomas Kenny, two sisters, Sheila Kaufmann and Joan Paternoster.
Survivors: In addition to her husband, John H. Christie, Carol is survived by her eldest son, Terry J. Christie and daughter-in-law, Lisa M. Christie of Helotes, Texas; daughter, Nora C. Puckett, son-in-law, Dr. Fredric C. Puckett, granddaughter, Penelope C. Puckett, grandson, Frederic H. Puckett of Ennis, Texas; her eldest sister, Moira Schultz; brother-in-law, Walter Kaufmann; as well as five nephews and six nieces.
