Carol Ann Day

Carol Day died peacefully on February 16, 2025 at home surrounded by her husband and four children. Carol was the tenth of twelve children born to Richard and Mildred Kaschmitter on November 20, 1946 in Le Mars, Iowa. She graduated from Gehlen Catholic High School in 1964 and from Briar Cliff Catholic College in Sioux City, Iowa in 1968. She met the love of her life and life-long partner, Lynn, in 1966. They were married in July 1969 and began their 25 year odyssey around the world serving our country in the United States Army. Upon retiring from the Army in 1994, they moved to Arlington, Texas where Lynn pursued a 15 year career in Catholic education which ended in 2009 when they retired from their second career so that they could spend quality time together.

Carol was very passionate about her family which always took priority over everything else. She was also an avid quilter and made literally hundreds handmade quilts that she refused to sell but readily gave to friends and various service organizations for their fundraising activities. She liked to travel, gamble, and drink martinis but not necessarily in that order.

Carol is survived by her husband, Lynn; daughter Angela (husband Bud) of Mansfield, Texas; son Daniel (wife Kimberly) of Dallas Texas; son Jeremy (wife Sara) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and son Andrew (wife Annie) of League City, Texas; 8 grandchildren: Christopher, Ethan, Emily, Finnegan, Oscar, Logan, Evan, and Cooper; and great grandson Simon. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Mildred Kaschmitter, three brothers, Fred, Richard, and Larry Kaschmitter, and one sister, Arlene Simmons.
