GRANBURY -- Carmen "Beta" Evans Greer, 82, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in Arlington after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday, St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 2024 S. Collins, Arlington, the Rev. Stuart B. Smith and the Rev. Gregory Crosthwait officiating. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to Habitat for Humanity Granbury (Hood County) or Hospice Inpatient Services at THR Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Beta was born June 6, 1930, in San Antonio, to Alva Dewitt Evans and Carmen Maxie Evans. After graduating from college she taught physical education for several years. Beta was an Arlington resident for many years, where she was a longtime real estate broker.
She was a member of Vought Engineering Wives Club. She volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Hood County.
Beta always welcomed everyone into her home and had an amazing ability to cook for family and friends. She loved family get-togethers and being with those she loved. Paul and Beta loved to travel and had many wonderful experiences throughout their lives. Beta loved the outdoors, she always had a camera in her hand and left many picture memories for her family and friends.
Survivors: Beloved husband of 60 years, whom she met when she was 15 and they have been together for 67 years, Paul Greer; children, Susie Kania and husband, Bob, Carl Greer and wife, Kristy, Paul Jr. and wife, Courtney; sister, Kathleen (Keeny) Evans Allison; grandchildren, Alicia Kania, Jimmy Kania, Anna Greer, Josh Greer, Kendall Greer, Mia Greer; brother-in-law, Marvin Greer and wife, Carolyn; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
