Carl Harvey was born on March 22, 1956, in Bonham, Texas to Lydia and Millard Harvey, Sr. On October 7, 2023 Carl took his last breath peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Carl lived in Bonham until the age of 16, at that point he moved to Kansas City, Missouri to live with his older sister Joann. In January of 1977, Carl enlisted in the Army which began his 20 years of dedicated military service. In 1981 Carl married Delores in Lawton, Oklahoma. While in the military, he completed three tours in Europe (Ramstein, Mannheim, and Pirmasens). He completed a commendable tour in Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm. Carl was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, Fort Polk, Louisiana, Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Lewis, Washington. He received numerous awards and ribbons which included: Army Commendation (3-time recipient), Achievement medal (2-time recipient), Army Good Conduct Medal (4-time recipient), Southwest Asia Medal with 2-Bronze Service Stars, The Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon (3-time recipient). Upon retirement in 1996 he moved to Lawton, Oklahoma and began his career in the Juvenile Justice System with Vision Quest. Vision Quest used a boot camp approach to discipline with the Buffalo Soldiers ideology and used horses as therapy for the troopers. During his 12 years of service, he used the leadership skills he acquired in the military to move up the ranks to Colonel. After 5 years in Lawton, he moved to South Mountain, Pennsylvania and finished his career in Okeechobee, Florida. After completing his career at Vision Quest, he decided to return home to Texas. Instead of retiring, he continued to work for another 11 years at Lowes. Carl loved to spend time with his family and friends, play dominoes, go fishing, take care of animals, garden, and watch the Cowboys play football. He is preceded in death by his parents Millard and Lydia, his sister Betty Lou, and his brother Millard Harvey, Jr. Carl leaves behind his wife Delores of 42 years; Daughters: Karla (George), TaMika (Keith) a very special nephew: Gaberial (Rachael); six grandchildren: Ty’Ron, Alexis, Marquel, Armer, RaShawn, and Makenzie; a great niece: Kayla; and siblings: Lily Faye (Bonham), Joann (Tacoma), Patricia (Bonham), and John
(Tacoma); and a host of nieces and nephews
