Byron Kenneth Austin passed away on November 26, 2021 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 93.
Kenneth was born on September 29, 1928 in Handley, Texas. He grew up with his sister in his parents’ home in Pantego, Texas. He was a grandson of one of the Pantego founding fathers. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1946. Kenneth was devoted to his lifelong high school sweetheart and wife, Glenndolyn, whom he married in 1949.
Kenneth worked in the oil and defense industries as a machinist. He was also a home-repair project enthusiast and used his skills and knowledge to design and manufacture needed replacement parts. He retired as a master machinist in research and development at Lockheed Martin. Kenneth enjoyed Texas summers vacationing in Colorado while camping and fishing for trout. Kenneth and Glenndolyn were avid square dancers in the Levis and Lace Square Dance Club. Kenneth also enjoyed competing in USATT table tennis tournaments.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 73 years, Glenndolyn; his sons and families; Jerry and Gloria, Bruce and Susan; his sister Charlotte and husband Bob of Houston along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Kenneth had 4 grandchildren; Julie (Casey), Anna, Jacqueline (Alec), and Justin (Katie). Kenneth had 6 great grandchildren; Sophie, Aspen, Judah, Colby, Ryann and Dylan. He was preceded in death by parents, Ralph and Stella Austin and great-granddaughter, Stella.
