Bruce Hampton Bowers

August 15, 1956 — September 13, 2021

Bruce Hampton Bowers, a/k/a Bowser, Brutus, Bow Wow, Bruiser and Nonno, of Arlington, TX passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021, at age 65. He was born August 15, 1956 in Houston, Texas to David Garrett and Ben Lois Bowers. Bruce spent most of his adolescent life playing sports, mostly pickup games of basketball, football, and baseball with the neighborhood kids. During his High School years he discovered the beach and surfing, made some bad choices with his friend selections like Mark Hillegeist and Steve Kloc, and became a beach bum. A lifelong resident of Texas, he graduated from Spring Branch High School and received a business degree from Southwest Texas State University. He worked and had a very successful career as an accountant in the oil and gas business. In 1982, Bruce started his family when he met his soon to be wife, Lia Giudice and her knuckle-head son, Matthew. In 1986, their daughter Sarah was born and his family was complete. Bruce was raised in a home where God was spoken of often. He has always trusted that God is real and Jesus is His Son who came to give His life for ours. Last January, alongside his best friend, Johnny Phipps, he put his full trust in Jesus and we have no doubt that he is walking alongside our Savior in Heaven right now. He was active at Lake Church in Arlington for the past 25 years, where he was known to brew up hot coffee for the guests and recently got involved with mission work at the Matamoros Children's Home which gave him great joy. His passions were the beach, music, concerts (especially “The Boss”), reading, working out, sporting events, camping, and hanging out with family. Bruce was a man dedicated to his family and friends. He was a humble man, with a gentle soul and had the patience to sit down and listen to complete strangers talk it up for hours and hours. He was a wonderful father and provider for his family. Anyone who met him liked him and wanted to be his friend. He is survived by his wife, Lia, son Matthew Kimble and wife Cindy, daughter Sarah Robinson and husband Tony, grandaughter Victoria and grandsons, Louden, Malachi, Josiah, and Thad, mother Ben Lois Bowers, brothers Brad Bowers, Gary Bowers and wife Rosie and several nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his brother Greg Bowers and his father David G. Bowers. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, September 24, 2021 at Lake Church, 2912 Little Road, Arlington, TX 76016. In lieu of flowers, our family has agreed that we would prefer for a donation to be made to the IMPACT ministry at Lake Church. GIVE at lakechurchdfw.org. Under the GIVE tab, there is an option for IMPACT.
