Bruce Capehart

Laurance Bruce Capehart, 78, passed away Monday, February 5th after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Bruce was supported by his loving family, many friends and the wonderful caregivers at Methodist Mansfield and Arlington Memorial Hospitals and Texas Oncology. Services: Visitation: Sunday, February 11th, 3:00-5:00pm at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Texas. Memorial Service: Monday, February 12th, 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church, Arlington, Texas with Rev. Rich McDermott, Tillie Burgin, and Rev. Randy Branson officiating. Bruce was born April 5, 1939 to Jack Graham and Helen Lucille (Maring) Capehart in Huntington, West Virginia. Graduate of Ceredo-Kenova High School Class of 1957, where he excelled academically and athletically in football and basketball. He graduated from Marshall University in 1962, and continued graduate studies in mathematics at The Ohio State University, where he also taught. Bruce's professional career included Hughes Aircraft Company and 22+ years at Lockheed Martin Missiles & Fire Control. He served as Director of Software Engineering and was a proud member of Lockheed's creative workforce. Upon retirement, Bruce taught in AISD at the Newcomer's Center, where he taught mathematics to 7th & 8th graders. An active community member, Bruce served as the Chair of the Child Protective Services Board of Tarrant County, and a member of the Methodist Mansfield Advisory Board and JPS Hospital Board. He volunteered at Mission Arlington and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church. Survived by his loving wife, Sheri and sons, Bruce P. Capehart, wife Tracey; Alex Capehart, wife, Jule; Matthew Kennedy, and Neil Kennedy; brothers, David Capehart, wife, Loweta; Nathan Capehart, wife, Roseanna; and Dale Capehart; six grandchildren, Chloe, Olivia, Virginia, Camille, Ben and Juliette.
