Brittney Nicole Franklin

March 24, 1987 — May 7, 2012

Following a tragic accident and a brief hospitalization, Brittney Nicole Franklin, 25, passed on from this earth and our lives on Monday, May 7, 2012. Celebration of life: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at First United Methodist Church, 313 N. Center St., Arlington. Memorials: Donations may be made to www.glenlake.org. Brittney was a 2005 graduate of Waco High School and a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M University at Galveston. Brittney began her career at ATI in Waco in January 2009. Recently she joined the educational team as a financial Aid Officer at the Art Institute of Fort Worth. Taking on the task of writing such an unexpected obituary was one that we were all avoiding. What words to use - what message to give? Then, as Brittney has done her whole life, she stepped in and took the job on herself. Brittney has been a caretaker for her family her entire life. And we find even now she has "handled" things for us. Brittney registered herself as an organ donor so that she could help others with life. No choices or decisions left to be made- she handled it herself. And now, facing the blank page to the beginning of this obituary, we have a cover letter that Brittney herself wrote. It is the cover letter she sent to accompany her recent resume and job application. So this is what Brittney has to say about herself. Oh....and yes. She got the job. December 5, 2011, To Whom It May Intrigue, Creativity and free range thinking are not qualities required for the job I currently hold. I possess a very detail-oriented, highly organized, and extremely disciplined personality. My current job functions require exceptional customer service, extensive knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and policies and the rest is mostly data entry. I believe that the qualities listed above, when translated correctly, show that I am a very good fit for the educational team. The customer service I provide illustrates how well I work with others and do not only help guide and lead, but also listen, understand and welcome the questions, suggestions, and ideas of others. Red tape cast by all government agencies tends to restrict the creative flow of individuals in their employ. A position that offers little to no room for creative wandering in no way, shape or form stops the imagination. The true artist in the "data entry" world merely expresses themselves on an Excel spreadsheet rather than a blank canvas. The environment in which I currently work tests my creativity every day and as such empowers and strengthens it. I may be a worker bee right now, but I am an innovative and creative thinker at heart. My passion has always been for the craftier and expressive business world, as my B.A. will show. I am a hard worker, disciplined and focused. I have a mind full of wonderfully fun and zany ideas that will either help expand on something already begun or help me get my brush in the paint and start something of my own. Success will be achieved either way, the places in between are what remains to be determined. Sincerely, Brittney N.
