Arlington

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bradley Jay Luddeke, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 65. Bradley was born on March 1, 1959, in San Antonio, Texas, to Freddie Luddeke and Danine Baumgarten.

Bradley’s career began in the oil field, where he worked hard and honed his skills before transitioning to a career as a gifted mechanical engineer. He was known for his talent in mechanical design, making a lasting impact in the field. However, Bradley’s true joy came from helping others. A proud volunteer fireman, his willingness to serve his community was evident in every aspect of his life. His dedication extended far beyond his engineering career, as he volunteered for Texas Baptist Men, the Special Olympics, and the Grand Prairie Police Department. He also served with the American Red Cross Disaster Response Team, where he met his future wife, Evonne.

Bradley had a deep love for cooking, particularly grilling and smoking meats. He relished preparing meals for his family and friends and was known for his generosity, often cooking for the homeless. His family gatherings were filled with love, laughter, and the delicious aromas of his cooking.

A proud father, Bradley was a constant presence at his children’s activities. He could always be found cheering on his daughter, Chelsea, at her softball games and supporting his sons, Justin and Jordan, at their sporting events. His passion for softball was contagious, and he became a well-known figure within the softball community. Bradley also enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether hunting deer or fishing, and created cherished memories with his children that will last forever.

Bradley’s kindness extended to his role as Santa Claus for the Lone Star and Texas State Santa organizations. Alongside his wife, Evonne, they brought joy to terminally ill children as Mr. and Mrs. Santa for the Secret Sleigh project. His laughter, generosity, and love for others touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.

Known for his outgoing nature, Bradley had a special connection with animals, especially dogs. He loved bending down to allow any dog to greet him with a kiss. His love for animals also led him to support animal shelters through fundraising efforts. Bradley’s humor, caring spirit, and ability to connect with others left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

In his youth, Bradley was an accomplished athlete, playing football and was a state hurdler for the John Marshall High School Rams in San Antonio, Texas. He was also a talented bull rider, known for his courage and determination.

Bradley is preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Danine Luddeke and son Jordan Luddeke. He is survived by his loving wife, Evonne Luddeke; daughter, Chelsea Luddeke; son, Justin Luddeke and his wife Holley; sister, Becky and husband Donovan Bradford; nephews, Michael Scheel and Bob Scheel; grandchildren, Parker Luddeke and Bailey Luddeke; and his best friend, James Wicker.

Bradley’s legacy of service, humor, love, and generosity will live on in the countless lives he touched. His family and friends take comfort in knowing that his spirit will never be forgotten.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to an animal shelter or rescue group of your choice in his honor or to the Lone Star Santa Group for disaster relief.

“Bradley, you were a beacon of light to all who knew you. You will be deeply missed, but your love and laughter will forever be remembered.”

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. Psalm 73:26
