ARLINGTON -- Dr. Bobby Charles Deaton, 78, of Arlington passed away Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Saturday at Wade Family Funeral Home, Arlington. Interment: 2 p.m. Sunday at Coopers Chapel (County Road 3425 and FM 1993 in Cookville 75558). Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Texas Wesleyan University.
Bobby was born Jan. 20, 1936, in Pittsburg. Bobby attended UT, Baylor and UTA and has a Ph.D. in physics and a master's in geology. Dr. Deaton taught for 47 years at Texas Wesleyan University, has authored over 60 academic papers, been granted patents, and was the first person to be inducted for three sports into the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation Hall of Fame, in 2008 for basketball, fast-pitch softball and tennis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frances Opal Kimberlin Rose and Charles Favor Deaton.
Survivors: Carolyn Van Winkle; brother, Dr. John Deaton; daughter, Rene Deaton; son, Bobby Deaton II; grandchildren, Bobby III, Whitney and Courtney; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
