Billy Wayne Ward, 83, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Arlington, Texas. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, September 3rd at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington 76013, at 11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will be at the funeral home at 12:00 noon and interment will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Community Hospice, 6100 Western Place, Suite 105, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Billy was born on January 14, 1937 to Eunice Lorene (Coats) and Charles Eugene Ward in Fort Worth, Texas. Billy grew up in Arlington, Texas and went to Arlington High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 thru 1957, achieving the rank of Corporal. In 1958, he married Elizabeth Ann Wickersham and together they had two children. It was during this season of his life Billy publicly professed his faith in Jesus Christ. At the time of his death, he was a member of Tate Springs Baptist Church. Billy worked in his early years as a truck driver and later as an electrician for Strickland Electrical. After several years of working in construction, he became a journeymen pipefitter, retiring at the age of 62 in 1999. Billy maintained his union membership with United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada until the time of his death, surpassing 45 years. Billy enjoyed fishing with friends and co-workers. He was a huge fan of watching baseball, football, boxing, rodeo, and NASCAR. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Scott Ward, brothers Bobby Ward, his wife Joyce and Richard Ward, his wife Myrna a sister, Sylvia Wood, sister in law Betty Wickersham, and brother in law Charles Wickersham. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth Ward of Arlington, Texas, son, Gary and wife, Barbara Ward of Arlington; a sister in law Sue Austin and her husband GW, of Willow Park, three grandchildren, Lindsey and husband, Johny Garner of Benbrook, Lauren Ward of Fort Worth, Chuck Scott and fiancé, Amber Hall of Granbury. Billy is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Mackenzie, Macie, Mallarie, and Silas, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
