Billy Ray Stewart

Billy Ray Stewart, 89, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018 in Arlington. Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, North Davis Church of Christ, 1601 North Davis Drive, Arlington. Inurnment: 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, with honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Memorials: Memorials may be made to Hearts and Hands, 1601 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012. Billy was born on December 1, 1928 in Chillicothe, Texas to Seab Ray Stewart and Audrey Ray Willis. He married Dorothy Elizabeth Byars, also from Chillicothe, on March 23, 1951. Billy served on active duty in the Army from May 24, 1951 to January 2, 1954 and remained in the Army Reserve until he was honorably discharged, August 31, 1964. In 1987, he retired as Chief Right-of-way Engineer from the Texas Highway Department after 22 years of service. Billy was preceded in death by both of his parents; and his sister, Juanita Stewart Ellis. Survivors: Wife of almost 67 years, Dot; his two children, Leslie Gillespie and her husband, Rick, and his son, Max Stewart; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
