ARLINGTON -- Billy Joe Walker, 79, passed away Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, in Arlington. Funeral: 3 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: At a later date. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 3 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Billy was born Jan. 4, 1934, in Weatherford to Richard and Alva Walker. He was a graduate of Arlington High School and guard and linebacker on the 1951 State Championship Football Team. A longtime Arlington businessman, he was a former owner of Good Time Vans. Billy loved raising quarter horses. He was a man who was loved by all. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Walker, on Sept. 3, 2013. Survivors: Wife, Bobbye Walker; sons, David R. Walker and wife, Pati Mitchell, William Keith Walker and wife, Vicky; daughter, Susan Walker Layton and fiance, Billy Briggs; brother, Bobby Dale Walker and wife, Reba; grandchildren, Cody Layton and Ashley Walker; and his beloved Cookie, Wah Wah and Hershey.
