Burleson, Texas - Billy Gene Sopher, 74, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at his home in Burleson, Texas.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, June 8th 11:00 – 12:00, in the Chapel of Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Tx 76013.
Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 noon in the Wade Chapel with Pastor Tommy Brandon officiating.
Burial will be at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2100 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Tx 75211 at 2:30 p.m.
Billy was born on May 24, 1947 in Odin, Illinois to William Marshall and Margaret Louise (Becker) Sopher.
Billy graduated from Odin High School and joined the U.S. Navy in 1966 where served 5 tours of duty in Vietnam. Billy lived most of his life in Arlington. He worked for and retired from the United States Postal Service. He was the Vice-President and President of the NALC Branch 2309 in Arlington. He loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Sopher, Parents-in-law, Robert and Bess Perryman, and a nephew, Rhett Perryman.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 48 years, Nancy Lee Perryman Sopher; son, Billy Gene Sopher Jr. and wife, Katrina and daughter, Heather Downs and husband, Jeff; four grandchildren, Kody Gentry, Kaylee Sopher, Eli Downs and Sadie Downs; many cousins and an aunt.
