Billy Wayne Allen, 78, passed away September 18, 2018 in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at First Baptist Church, 301 S. Center Street, Arlington. Interment: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: Donations in Bill's name may be made to the Poly High School Alumni Association or the Arlington High School Football Booster Club. Bill was born July 4, 1940 in Sherman, TX to Orbia Lee Allen and Mildred Wiggins Allen. He graduated from Poly High School, Texas Wesleyan University and various banking schools. Bill was a boxer in the Golden Gloves and a Cowtown Marathon participant. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and achieved Expert Level Marksmanship. Bill was Chairman/CEO/President of TheBank Arlington, now Prosperity Bank. His passion was serving the community by being a relationship banker and working side by side with his best friend, Cathy. After more than 50 years in banking, he retired in May 2017. After retirement, he and Cathy enjoyed spending time at their second home in Florida. His greatest achievement was being a husband, father, granddaddy and “Bill Bill” to his grandchildren. Survivors: His wife, Cathy S. Allen; son, Caleb Allen and wife, Brittany and their children, Boone and Beau of Southlake; daughter, Brittany Stewart and husband, Brett and their children, Reese and Madison of Frisco; daughter, Jana Greening and husband, Dane and their children, Katy and Garrett Carter, Lacy, Luke and Jace of Celina; son, Johnny Allen and wife, Jiena of Keller; brother, Bob Allen and wife, Melinda of Fort Worth; brother-in-laws, Chuck and Rhonda Self of Mansfield and Rick Self of Tennessee; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as many friends that were like family.
