Billie Mcconnell

d. August 21, 2021

Billie Dean McConnell was born on March 20, 1932, in Gunter, Texas to Gilbert McConnell and his wife Ada (Forbis). He was the youngest of seven children- he had four older brothers: Gilbert, Bernard, Don, and Zack, as well as two older sisters: Vina Jane and Dorothy. Bill enjoyed growing up on his family farm… his lifelong love for nature and animals were fostered through his many experiences as farm boy. He attended North Texas University until he joined the Air Force in 1952. He was stationed at Brize Norton Air Force Base in England for 3 years as a weatherman during the Korean War. He made lifetime memories during his years in England and Europe. Upon returning from overseas, he completed his education at Arlington State College, now known as UTA. Before attending law school, he worked at Lone Star Boats helping to draft and design new boats. After graduating from Baylor Law School in 1962, he worked as an estate tax lawyer in the IRS' Dallas branch. Soon after, he was appointed as Trust Officer for First National Bank in downtown Dallas. He eventually moved his family to Arlington, where he joined the law firm of Fred Davis. A few years later, he formed his own law firm, McConnell and Associates where he remained for the rest of his career. Upon retirement he took up the hobby of restoring hundreds of antique radios, inside and out. Bill was very fond of his many nieces and nephews, who referred to him as their “Fun Uncle Bill.” He was a loving husband and father… he placed supreme importance on his relationship with God and his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet McConnell; his daughter, Melinda McConnell; and his sister, Dorothy Paviolo.
