ARLINGTON -- Billie Fern Drury, 93, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, in Arlington.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 2 p.m. Monday in Brushy Cemetery, Bowie. Visitation: The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home.
Billie Fern was born May 18, 1918, in Bowie to Arthur Willis and Bertha Roberts Willis. She married Ervin Drury on April 12, 1941. After the loss of her husband, she moved to Arlington where she began her career as a beautician. She owned and operated several salons in Arlington throughout her career. Billie retired in 1981 and moved back to Bowie. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bowie. Her desire to be with her family brought her back to Arlington six years ago, where she resided at Town Village.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Drury, who died in World War II while in service to his country; sister, Hazel Hankins; and brother, Dr. Selwyn Willis.
Survivors: Daughter, Fran Baker and husband, Bruce; grandchildren, Shan Raley and Deidra Deaton and husband, Kent; great-grandchildren, Lindsay Hare and husband, Michael, Ryan Raley, Dillon Deaton and Logan Deaton; great-great-grandson, Cooper Raley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
