Beverly Bohannon Reynolds (April 11, 1931 – August 30, 2022)

Beverly Bohannon Reynolds, born on April 11, 1931, passed away at 91 on August 30, 2022. She was pre-deceased by her parents O.L. Bohannon and Nancy Nelson Bohannon, sister Yvonne Bohannon Ivie, husband James A. Reynolds, Jr., daughter Rebecca Reynolds and grandson Wheeler Liles III. An Arlington native, she graduated from Arlington High School in 1948 and from the Texas State College for Women in 1952. She married civil engineer Jim Reynolds on April 21, 1952 and began an immensely distinguished teaching career spanning 45 years. Beginning at Maxie Speer Elementary, she moved to South Davis Elementary and taught third grade for 25 years. A Masters of Education degree from UTA enabled her move to Shackleford Junior High, and then to Lamar High School – first teaching sophomore English and, later, senior English. Beverly received numerous education awards, highest among them being named one of the top ten Texas public school teachers in 1991. She was a dedicated member of the First Methodist Church. Beverly is survived by sister Elizabeth Bohannon Ohme, son James Reynolds III and wife Carmen McGee, son-in-law Steve Kunkle, grandchildren Joseph Kunkle, Jill Kunkle Gerald and husband Adam Gerald, Maggie McGee Liles Jimenez and husband Chris Jimenez, and great-grandchildren Wheeler Liles IV, Maren Gerald, Marion Jimenez and Vera Jimenez. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17 at 10:00am at Wade Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Beverly’s family asks that you make a donation in her name to the First Methodist Church of Arlington.
