Bettye Faye Niblett- Sanford was born December 5, 1947, in Midland, Texas to the late Myrtle Walker-Niblett, and Alfred Niblett, Sr.
Bettye accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by Rev. H. F. Doyle becoming a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She also served as a pianist for Macedonia Baptist Church and several other local churches.
She attended Midland public schools and graduated from Carver Jr. Sr. High, as salutatorian in 1966. She attended The University of Texas at El Paso on an academic scholarship. She married her high school sweetheart Leroy Maxwell in 1967 and later married Henry Sanford, Sr.
Shortly after moving to Ft. Worth in 1969, Bettye united with True Vine Baptist Church, where she also assisted in the music department. Later she united with Berea Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Hoise Bell. In 2012, she joined The New Rising Star MBC family under the pastoral of Rev. Isadore Edwards Jr. At NRS she was a faithful member serving with the Media ministry, Women's ministry, on the board for H. O. P.E., Inc., volunteered in the GO Center and was a devoted Sunday school participant until her health failed her.
After moving to Fort Worth, she became employed by the United States Postal Service and held several supervisory and managerial positions during her long career. She was the first black female promoted to the general supervisors' position and served on a team with the Postal Inspectors and Injury Comp Division. She received training in several states and served as a trainer for other supervisors at the USPS until she retired in 2005. She was employed for over 36 years.
She belonged to several civic and business organizations through the years. These included the Order of the Eastern Star, American Business Women Association, A-PLUS, H. O. P. E., Inc. and a member of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club Inc. She was adamant about education and encouraged young people to strive for excellence in education.
She was called home to Glory Saturday morning April 30, 2016 by her heavenly Father. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Alfred Niblett, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory; her sisters, Norma Mosley of Ft. Worth, Texas; Brenda Niblett & Callie Wallace (Qunicy); one brother, Alfred Niblett Jr. (Janet) of Midland, Texas. She also leaves nieces Wyndy Walter, Tamara Sanders & Asia Odhams.Seven nephews, Warden Walter (Carla), Adrian Niblett, Anthony Niblett(Jennifer), Eldon Niblett, Ben Stemley (Nakiba),Jamian Jackson and Quentin Wallace. She was known as BeBe to her great nieces and nephews. Bettye did not birth any children but was known as Mama Bettye by several children she raised and supported financially, spiritually and emotionally (Kenny Duson, Paxton Hall, Keith Sanford & Crissy Strahan-Morrow ). Through the years Bettye made many close and dear friends. She leaves a host of relative, friends and former co-workers with her loving memory.
