Betty Joan (Parker) Reeves, 91, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, September 30, 2020. She passed away peacefully at her home in Arlington surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Birdville Cemetery. Visitation: 4-6 p.m. Sunday, October 4, at the funeral home.
Betty Joan was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee to Napoleon Martin & Martha Louise Parker. She was the oldest of six children and graduated high school in 1945. She held several interesting jobs throughout her life, but her favorite to tell about was making shell casings during WWII!
Betty Joan was an active member of Parkview Baptist Church and later Northwest Baptist Church. She loved singing in the choir and she headed up the Church's Mission Outreach. Her favorite event was organizing Operation Christmas Child which provided shoeboxes to underprivileged children in support of Samaritan's Purse.
Betty Joan was also active in the PTA at Lamar High School where she was awarded a Lifetime Membership. Betty Joan never met a stranger and had a unique ability to make everyone feel loved and special. She had a very sharp memory which blessed many with her countless stories and tales. Betty Joan also became known for her impeccable fashion sense, unmatched-style and loving grace.
Betty Joan lived her life full of the love of Christ and always gave Him the Glory in all circumstances. She loved reading her Bible , spending time with family and friends, listening to Gospel music, playing games and traveling.
Betty Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Napoleon & Martha; three sisters, Nelson Moffitt, Barbara Pringle, Emily Underwood; and one brother, Jack Parker. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jerry Reeves of Arlington; daughter, Beth Hogue; son, Robert Gibson; daughter, Jolene Vaughan & her husband, Delton; and son, Randy Reeves and his wife, Stacie; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Parker and his wife, Amber; and numerous nieces and nephews.
