Betty Folmar

January 1, 1944 — December 9, 2024

Betty Marie Folmar, born on January 1, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, entered into eternal rest on December 9, 2024, in Arlington, Texas. She passed peacefully, surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of faith and devotion that will forever be cherished.

Betty was the beloved daughter of Mary DiCapo Downs and Billy Downs, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also reunited in heaven with her husband of 32 years, James "Jimmy" Folmar, and her grandson, Tommy Alcantar. Her memory lives on through her sister Rose Mary Henry; brothers Rickey Downs and Phillip Downs; her children Mary Brantley, Lisa Folmar, and Jimmy Folmar; six grandchildren—Ryan Alcantar, Brandon Folmar, Gaston Folmar, Caitlin Carpenter, Whitney Black, and Mason Carpenter—and eleven great-grandchildren.

As the matriarch of her family, Betty embraced her role with grace and devotion. Her grandchildren lovingly called her "Ma-Ma," a name that reflected the deep bond she shared with them. Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter; she had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room and a heart big enough to make everyone feel welcome.

A woman of profound faith in Jesus Christ, Betty found peace and strength in prayer throughout her life. Her unwavering belief guided her through life’s challenges and brought comfort during difficult times. In the past year especially, she exemplified the power of steadfast faith as she leaned on her relationship with God for comfort.

Betty had a zest for life that shined through in everything she did. A proud Dallas Cowboys fan who never missed a game, she also had a well-known sweet tooth—her candy dish was always full. Her family will forever treasure one of her favorite sayings: "I love you from the bottom of my heart!" And in her honor, they encourage you to embrace life’s joys—perhaps even indulge in something from QVC.

Though deeply missed as a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Betty’s loved ones find comfort in their faith that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Rest in peace, Betty Marie Folmar. May your memory inspire us to live with love and joy until we meet again.
