Bennie Mccollum

Bennie Glenn McCollum, 82, of Arlington, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017, surrounded by his family. Visitation will be held on April 18th from 6:00- 8:00 pm at Fielder Church in the chapel which is located on the corner of Fielder Road and Pioneer Parkway. It has a spire on top. Please enter the southwest doors that face Fielder Road. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Fielder Church on Wednesday, April 19th at 2:00 pm. Jerry Morris, Pastor to Senior Adults at Fielder Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the Celebration of Life at Moore Memorial Gardens in North Arlington. Bennie was born in Alma, Texas on June 8, 1934. He was the son of the late Erwin and Ethel (Oliver) McCollum. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1951 and served two years in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Bennie and Doris were married in 1956 and raised two daughters in Arlington. Bennie was the owner/operator of a small trucking company for many years before retiring in 2002. He and Doris loved traveling. They were members of a camping club and took many cruises over the years. Bennie is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris McCollum; sister, Nelda Love; daughter, Brenda Land and husband, Richard; daughter, Cindy Baker and husband, Bobby; grandchildren Jeremy Baker, Ashley Gaither and husband, Grant, Cory Land, Alex Baker, Chelsea Arceneaux and husband, Arlen, Jody Land and wife, Bree; great-grandchildren Austin Baker, Savannah Baker, Garrett Gaither and Grant Land.
