It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Joan Purvee, who departed this life on January 2, 2025, at the age of 89, in Grand Prairie, Texas. Born on April 26, 1935, in Glens Falls, New York, Barbara was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose warmth, love, and kindness will be missed by all who knew her.
Barbara enjoyed a fulfilling career as a legal secretary, where her professionalism, dedication, and compassionate nature made a lasting impact. Alongside her career, she was also a devoted housewife who took great pride in caring for her family. She is survived by her sons, Russell Purvee and Wilford Purvee; daughter-in-law, Sheri Purvee; and grandchildren, Sara Purvee, Krystal Purvee, Alan Purvee, Elizabeth Doyle, and Robert Devers. In addition, she leaves behind 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, as well as her siblings, Lou Kilmer and Sandy Martin. Barbara had a passion for crossword puzzles and word searches, activities that brought her much enjoyment.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilford Purvee; her parents, Louis and Naomi Kilmer; and her sister, Norma Kilmer.
A visitation will be held at Wade Funeral Home in Belle Hall on January 12, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Barbara’s life will take place at Wade Funeral Home Chapel on January 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a graveside service at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
Barbara’s gentle spirit and the love she shared with everyone will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
