Barbara Nan Brown

Barbara Nan Brown, 80, passed away on April 15, 2022, at home in Arlington surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born on August 1,1941 in Houston, TX, to Vendor Harvard Reeder and Darlene Francis Trout. She graduated from Madrid High School in 1959 while her father was stationed in the Air Force in Madrid Spain. Upon graduation she moved back to the States to attend University of Houston.

Barbara met her husband of 61 years, Joseph W. Brown, Jr., while spending the summer with her grandmother in Bowie, TX. It didn’t take long before they both knew they were meant to be together and wed on October 31, 1961 after a brief courtship. They had 3 children, Darlynda Casterline of Burleson, Kimberly Hiebert, of Aledo and Cameron Brown of Arlington.

Family was everything to Barbara. She was a deeply devoted and loving mother and wife. She volunteered often at her children’s schools, with Meals on Wheels and at Arlington Urban Ministries Nu2U Resale. For many years she served as a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed dancing, traveling, reading, sewing and gardening.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Joseph Brown, Jr.; daughters and sons-in-law: Darlynda and David Casterline, Kimberly and Gordon Hiebert; son, Cameron Brown; granddaughter, Danyelle Casterline; grandsons: Clayton Hiebert, Spencer Hiebert and Emery Hiebert and his wife, Kelsea; brother, Kenneth Reeder; cousins, Cheryl Lawrence, Nancy Craig, Virginia Frasier, Mary Reeder and their children.

Barbara is preceded in death by her father Vendor Reeder; mother, Darlene Trout; brother, James Reeder and nephew, Curtis Reeder.

The service for Barbara Brown will be held on May 10th at 10:00AM in the chapel at Wade Funeral Home located at 4140 Pioneer Parkway in Arlington, TX. Burial services will be held on the same day at 2:00PM at DFW National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in Dallas.
