Barbara B. Littlefield

Barbara Butts Littlefield was born to Justin and Marjorie Butts in Covington, Texas, on December 25, 1935. She entered heaven on September 3, 2024.

After graduating as valedictorian from Iowa Park High School, she entered North Texas State University on scholarship as a music major. From an early age, she was an accomplished pianist. She had the pleasure of serving as church secretary and pianist for many years at West Memorial Baptist Church in Houston and later as the Senior Adult Department pianist at First Baptist Church, Euless. In recent years, Barbara provided music for weekly Bible meetings at an assisted living facility in Mansfield.

Barbara lived for several years on the East Coast before coming to Houston, Texas, where she later met David Littlefield. The two were married on June 24, 1977. In 1994, David and Barbara moved to Euless, where they were members of First Baptist Church, Euless for 26 years. After much prayer, they moved to Mansfield and in 2020 joined Walnut Ridge Baptist Church.

Barbara was an excellent paralegal professional for several attorney groups in Dallas and Fort Worth. However, her passion was teaching a ladies’ Bible class at First Baptist Church, Euless, which she did for many years. Though she lived in Mansfield, she maintained contact with class members up until her death.

In addition to her love for God and His Word and how much Jesus’ sacrifice meant to her, Barbara’s love for her family was evident throughout her life. Her many years of marriage to David were filled with precious memories, including the joy of taking grandchildren on trips throughout the United States. Having 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren provided them with many opportunities to celebrate birthdays and holidays together.

Barbara is survived by her husband, David Littlefield, sister Roberta Fenner and brother Russell Butts.

Barbara and David’s blended marriage includes daughter Marla Marisa Downing (deceased) and husband Edward (Duncanville); daughter Andrea Lisa O’Brien and husband Ross (Waxahachie); son Mark Stephen Littlefield and wife Benita (Conroe); son Gregory Wayne Littlefield and wife Sue (Phoenix); and son Robert Andrew Littlefield and wife Tina (Denton).

Grandchildren and great grandchildren include Rebekah, Eric, and Mikayla Downing; Alex Downing, wife Rachel, and children Ian, Gabriel, Oliver and Judah; Christopher Downing, wife Michaela, and children Jonathan and Sarah; Connor O’Brien, wife Jill, and child Connor; Sky O’Brien; Mara (Littlefield) Thompson, husband Chris, and children Kalyce and Kennedy; Kevin Littlefield, wife Kami, and children Ava, Kaia, Lincoln, London and Jade; Samantha and Gregory Littlefield; Josh Littlefield, wife Jennifer, and children Jackson, Nathan and Austin; Matthew Littlefield and Carson Walker.
