Barbara Jean Brown

Barbara Jean Brown was born to Nellie Mae Johnson on August 31st, 1944, in Tom, Oklahoma.

Growing up, Barbara wanted to be a fashion designer, as well as a nurse. At a young age, she moved to Kansas City Kansas, where God would place her on a different path to walk.

Barbara married Robert Brown who served for the United States Air Force and had the opportunity to travel the world. She was a devoted wife, and mother, and a very hard worker. Barbara started a career working for General Motors in 1976, where she retired in 2003.

Known for her fierce attitude and “out of sight” fashions Barbara was a God-fearing woman, and on this day July 8th, 2023, we celebrate and rejoice in honor of her life.

She leaves to mourn her passing four children, Troy Brown, Nellene Brown, Karl Brown and Carol Brown-Whitehead. Five grandchildren Latroyce Brooks-Gurley, Antanell Jamison, Anthony Jamison Jr.,Toya Brown, Karl Brown Jr. and Marcus Johnson; and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and one brother Jewell Bloodsoe.
