Barbara Ann Rose, 80, of Dalworthington Gardens, Texas passed away on July 27, 2017 in Arlington. Services: Family and friends will gather at Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington on Thursday, August 3 from 6:00-8:00pm for visitation. The funeral service, officiated by Reverend Bobby Bridges, will be held at Wade Family Funeral Home on Friday, August 4 at 11:00am. Burial at Moore Funeral Home will immediately follow. Barbara was born to J.B. and Mary Ann Phillips on June 30, 1937 in Dallas, Texas where she was raised. She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School and continued on to receive her bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas. Barbara's 25 year career was entirely devoted to teaching her beloved first graders in Dallas ISD and Arlington ISD. As a member of the inaugural cohort of teachers to serve under President Lyndon B. Johnson's Head Start Program, Barbara directly helped fight the War on Poverty. She further aided the community as a member of the Arlington Woman's Club, Rolling Hills Country Club, and First Presbyterian Church in Arlington; including volunteer work in New Orleans to rebuild post-Hurricane Katrina. Barbara is preceded in passing by her husband and the love of her life, Web Rose Jr. and sister, Nancy Teat. Survivors: She is survived by her daughter, Karen McMurrough & husband, Joe; son, Mark McCommas; siblings, Dorothy Thompson, Jean Hinson & husband C.B., John Phillips & wife Francis; grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Kasy, Clayton, Kerry, and Madeline; great-grandson, Daniel; and multiple nieces and nephews. She will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered for her natural grace, passion for education, delicious cooking (especially her chocolate pie), enjoyment of travel and culture, and above all, the boundless love she had for her family.
