ARLINGTON- Beloved mother and devoted wife, Avis Margaret Middleton Waldrop, 93, passed away peacefully at Arlington Villa in Arlington on August 9th, 2013. Private Service: The family celebrated Avis' life privately in Texas and will hold another private ceremony with family in Alabama. Avis was born on November 12, 1919 in Birmingham, Alabama to Robert James Middleton and Alma Louise Kissgen Middleton. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University in 1942. A resident of Arlington since 1970, she retired as an accountant and later, an elementary school teacher. Avis traveled for many years visiting over 100 countries, but said her favorite destination was Fiji. She was an arts enthusiast and loved the opera, symphony, ballet and theatre. Avis and her beloved husband of 60 years, Claybourne, were avid supporters of many local artistic companies, especially the Scott Theatre and the Van Cliburn Foundation. She enjoyed reading the newspaper, painting and sewing. Avis was an avid sports fan and loved the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and Dallas Cowboys. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claybourne Waldrop Sr., her sister, Enid Alma Middleton Howard and her great granddaughter, Roxy Amber Trick. Survivors: Daughter, Ann Trick; sons, Claybourne Waldrop Jr. and Doc Waldrop; grandchildren, Philip Trick and wife, Katy, Justin Trick and fiance, Jessica Sumner, Kristen Trick, Nolan Waldrop; great-granddaughter, Jasey Trick; nephew, R. Hadley Howard, Jr. and wife, Lisa; nephew, J. Tim Howard and wife, Sonni; great-nephews, R. Hadley Howard III, Dustin Tidwell; great-niece, Robin Watson and husband, Zach.
