Audrey Kennedy Blaylock passed away on November 3, 2024, at the age of 99. She was the daughter of Jack and Jule Kennedy, born in St. Peter/Nicollet, Minnesota and grew up on a farm in Minnesota. After high school, Audrey and her sister Dee moved to California for work and adventure. The two of them were close throughout their lifetimes and loved traveling with their spouses. Audrey met Mabry “Blay” Blaylock, a navy pilot, while in California and they married in Coronado on January 21, 1956. They spent their 46 years together enjoying life and traveling all over the globe. While Blay was in the Navy, Audrey had the opportunity to move all around the United States with her husband and family, finally settling in Arlington in 1968. Audrey loved many things in life, but those at the top of her list were her faith, her family and golf. Audrey was a member of Shady Valley Golf Club for over 50 years and was a lifetime member of the Women’s Golf Association. She loved being out on the course as often as she could. Audrey was a member of St. Maria Goretti Church for over 50 years, active in The Women’s Guild, The Leisure Club and volunteering with St. Anthony’s food pantry at the church right up until her death. Audrey enjoyed cheering for the Dallas Mavericks and loved watching Dirk and then Luka play.
Audrey counted her blessings when it came to her large extended family with numerous nieces, nephews and godchildren. Her niece, Susie Kennedy Larson would send her weekly cards and continued the tradition for many years, these cards always brought her great joy. Her grandniece, Emily Dummer Hartzog, came down on a college spring break to play golf and cook with Audrey, which made her feel so special and share her love of golf. Her niece, Gwen Dummer Anderson, along with Gwen’s husband, Randy, were the only other close family in Texas. Gwen’s two children, Mary and Brian, were considered Audrey’s grandchildren. Mary always had a fun adventure/story that she would share with Audrey and bring a big laugh. Audrey loved playing grandmother when Mary married Walker and playing great grandmother to their three adorable children: John Walker, Eddy and Catherine.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband, Blay, her son, Noel and her siblings, Shirley Kennedy, Jim (Bup) Kennedy, Dee Kennedy Harbour, Merle (Van) Dummer and Donna (Jim) Nutter. She is survived by her daughter, Kelley Blaylock, numerous nieces and nephews, along with two close family friends that spent holidays and family events with them and she considered her own: Sharon Geider and Beth Jones.
