ARLINGTON -- Audie May Blackshear, 91, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2014.
Memorial Service: 3 pm Saturday at St. Matthew's United Methodist Church, 2414 Hitson Lane, Fort Worth, Pastors Max Brennan & Wayne Blackshear officiating. Visitation: 6-8 pm Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Fort Worth.
Audie was born to the late Benton and Myrtle Mae White on Dec. 4, 1922, in Sherman, TX where she grew up. She married Charlie Millard Blackshear in 1949, raised her family and worked as a department manager for Gibson's Discount Stores. Audie remained in Sherman until 1986 when she and Charlie moved to Ft Worth to be close to family. When Charlie passed away in 1996, she moved in with, her son, Robert.
Audie was a long time member of Key Memorial Methodist Church in Sherman and St. Matthew Methodist Church in Ft. Worth.
Audie enjoyed cooking, genealogy, sewing, and crafting. She loved spending time with family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her dog Bailey.
Audie was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Charlie; her brothers Edward and James White; sister Adie White and grandson Doyle.
Survivors: Sons, Robert Blackshear and wife, Patricia; Benton Blackshear; William Blackshear and wife, Isla; and Glen Carl Blackshear and wife, Dorothy; Daughter Glenda Schmeltzer and husband Paul; sister Jane Ann Gayden; 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and many family members and friends.
